8 May 2025 - ‘This f... rock!’ conference

Many shipwrecks have occurred on the Gattevillais coastline over the course of history.

In the first lecture, Thierry Louise recounted the often tragic but sometimes funny circumstances of various shipwrecks that occurred on the north coast, west of the Barfleur inlet.

This second lecture focused on a rock well known for its danger: Quilleboeuf.

From the sinking of the Blanche-Nef in 1120 to the catastrophic sinking of the Luna in 1860, and right up to the present day, Thierry explained the misdeeds of this rock, which is so close to the coast, and the admirable efforts of the rescuers to limit the consequences.
