30 May 2026 – Guided night-time walk: ‘The Treasures of Gatteville by the light of the lighthouse’

To mark the Normandy heritage festival ‘Pierres en Lumières’, Gatteville Héritages organised a guided night-time walk entitled ‘The treasures of Gatteville by the light of the lighthouse’.

This walking tour set off at 10 pm from Place Notre-Dame in Gatteville, in pleasantly cool weather following a heatwave, where participants were able to admire, in the intermittent glow of the last rays of daylight, Saint-Pierre Church, the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours Chapel, the former town hall and the superb houses lining the square.

It continued through the former German battery from the Second World War, then along the port of Roubary and the shoreline, ending at the foot of the lighthouse, bathed in its distinctive intermittent light.

The walk concluded with a return journey via the back-littoral marsh to Place Notre-Dame at around 11.45 pm, covering a distance of approximately 5 km.
