Many shipwrecks have occurred on the Gatteville coastline over the course of history.

During his talk, Thierry Louise recounted the tragic, unusual and sometimes comical circumstances of a number of well-documented shipwrecks that occurred on the north coast.

Some of the names of ships of all nationalities, well known in Gatteville, enlightened his talk: ‘Ballesteros’, ‘Marie-Henriette’, ‘Else Lindinger’,…. Not forgetting the reading of some passages from Abbé Leblond’s book ‘Naufrages sous Barfleur et feu de Gatteville’.
