14 August 2026 – Cycling talk: ‘In the Footsteps of the Luna’

This cycle tour will set off from the old dovecote in Barfleur and visit several sites linked to the sinking of the Luna on 17 February 1860: the SNSM station in Barfleur, Crabec with its view of Quilleboeuf Rock, then the Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours chapel, the old cemetery and the Gatteville lighthouse.

Thierry Louise, a maritime history enthusiast, will lead this guided cycle tour and, at each stop, will share his knowledge of what was undoubtedly the deadliest shipwreck ever to occur off the Cotentin coast.

Accessible by bike only.

Departure from the Vieux Colombier in Barfleur at 4.30 pm, finishing around 6.30–7.00 pm at Place Notre-Dame in Gatteville-le-Phare, for a cycle route of approximately 9 km.
